Designed for an adults fiction book in response to the Student Design Awards by Penguin. The book is set in Japan, two of the key themes in the book are death and depression. By using the first chapter of the book I wanted to symbolise these themes using only type to show the impact death can have while also hinting at the linear aspect of Japanese typography.
Designed for a children’s fiction book in response to the Student Design Awards by Penguin. The book is primarily about a boy with a facial deformity entering school. The cover features masking tape to reference arts and crafts that many young children take part in. The cover features the boy illustrated as in the book the mother is an illustrator.
